California license lookup

Check a California contractor’s license before you hire.

Start with the business name or license number on your estimate. Compare it with the state’s record before requesting a VetACrew report.

Compare the details that identify the business.

  1. Start with the license number

A license number narrows the lookup to a particular record. If you only have a business name, check the city and ask the contractor for the number when names are similar.

  2. Read the status and classifications

The California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) publishes license details and the classifications associated with a record. Compare those details with the contractor and the work on your estimate.

  3. Check insurance separately

A license or bond entry does not establish general liability coverage. Ask for insurance details and confirm them with the named agent or carrier.

VetACrew’s initial license coverage is California. Permit coverage starts with the City of Los Angeles; the report states the local records and periods searched.
